About Us

Sugarcreek Forge started as a hobby and grew into a league of extraordinary knife makers. Tim Troyer and Jordan Chumney. We want the best of bringing our own personal style and designs to our custom work, and collaborating on highly specialized knives and tools in a boutique-style shop. We love to forge Damascus steel, and San Mai steel for our work. We proudly make folding knives, straight knives, and extraordinary tools. Our knives are in the hands of celebrities, professional athletes, collectors, outdoors people, and ordinary people just like us. Please buy one of our special knives!

Tim Troyer

Tim has been making knives for more than 20 years. His journey started by making a lock back folder for his own personal use. This was certainly starting the hard way, but luckily he did not know that. Tim is an avid outdoorsman and has tested his designs with his own hands hunting, fishing, camping, and in the field. He had the good fortune of being mentored by Rick Hinderer who taught him to forge Damascus steel, improve his folder designs, and use knife making tools effectively. Like an old school cutler, he makes a little bit of everything knife and tool related. He is also the founder of Bamba Forge in Uganda and over using blacksmithing and knife making to help people make a living and a life in the developing world. This work is done through The Reckoning International, a faith-based organization that mobilizes people and resources to transform the lives of families living in poverty.

Jordan Chumney

Jordan is one-of-a-kind! He began making knives completely self-taught and never met another knife maker until he stepped into our forge. He has a background studying fine art and design, as well as restaurant management. He has a massive following on Instagram and has made knives for celebrities like Joe Rogan, Forest Griffin, and Cowboy Cerrone. He is a tireless hard worker with stunning fit and finish to his work. Jordan learned to forge Damascus steel in our forge and makes some of the finest cleavers, kitchen cutlery, and EDC knives out there. He works full time at Sugarcreek Forge and is our Director Of Operations. Jordan is also an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Those passions combined with experience in professional cooking environments, add depth and functionality to his truly artistic designs.
