Bamba Forge
North of Uganda’s capital city is a village called Bamba where you will find the local men running a busy forge. Bamba Forge was started by Tim Troyer, the founder of The Reckoning International (a non-profit organization focused on livelihood development among the poor) with the help of Ugandan leaders looking for solutions to poverty. Tim felt that he could combine his love of knife making with his desire to make a positive, lasting impact on the village of Bamba. The forge is an opportunity for orphaned and at-risk men of this area to learn knife making by hand, providing them with the skills and means to support themselves. Each of the men who works there has his own story, but they have all been given a new chapter at Bamba Forge.
Uganda currently has very high unemployment rates at 63% in people who are 30 years old or younger. Our Ugandan team members have blossomed into great knife makers and blacksmiths. We travel there regularly, and bring professional blacksmith trainers and knife makers to help them develop world class skills. Bamba Forge has become self-supporting and construction of a second forge is underway in Tororo Uganda. All of the profits from the sale of Bamba Forge knives go directly back to Bamba Forge through The Reckoning International. Their knives are hand forged and make great gifts. When you purchase one, you directly support our hardworking team. They aren’t looking for a handout. They are looking for a “hand up”.
Bamba knives can be purchased from knivesshipfree.com,
Sugarcreek Forge, and Hawthorn Forge (https://www.facebook.com/hawthorneforge) periodically have Bamba Knives for sale.
